150.000 Euro Bronze Statue 'Benjamin' Vandalized in Belgian Coastal City Wenduine

The artwork 'Benjamin' by Belgian artist Maen Florin has been vandalised with graffiti using the word 'Gaza'.

Vandals painted 'Gaza' on the artwork 'Benjamin', which recently found its permanent place in the renovated former zoo area in the Belgian coastal city Wenduine. As part of the Beaufort Art Triennial in 2021, the municipality acquired Maen Florin's artwork 'Benjamin'.

In a comment the Mayor of Wenduine said : "This is not a political message, but simply the work of idiots, this work of art has nothing to do with the conflict between Israel and Hamas. It's just disgusting. It will take time and effort to clean and restore the 150.000 Euro statue."
