Climate Activists cover Botticelli's Venus

Two Last Generation militants entered the Uffizi in Florence and targeted Botticelli's "Birth of Venus".

The Renaissance masterpiece was covered with images of the Campi Bisenzio floods in 2023 attached with paper tape. The museum staff made the tourists leave, turned off the lights and closed the room, while the police stopped the two activists.

The Ultima Generazione blitz at the Uffizi in Florence did not damage the painting nore did it damage the protective glass

The activists remained in the room for about 15 minutes and were escorted by the police. The two activists explained that they conducted the action with the aim of asking for "a reparation fund of 20 billion euros for all citizens who have suffered or will suffer damage from climate disasters, as happened in Emilia Romagna and in Campi Bisenzio". Furthermore, they sympathized with the farmers "who are protesting all over Europe because they can no longer make it to the end of the month".
