German Government  Invests 300 Million Euro in Cultural Initiatives

The German Budget Committee of the German Bundestag cleared the way for the funding of 76 investment projects in the cultural sector. A total of 300 million euros will be made available for these initiatives.

The Minister of State for Culture and Media, Claudia Roth: "I thank the Budget Committee for the selection of the projects and the allocation of funds. This is very good news. This makes it possible to advance important investment measures in the cultural sector and strengthen both large and small projects that are significant for the cultural and memory-related infrastructure of our country."

The funds are earmarked as subsidies for investment in cultural initiatives of domestic institutions in the budget of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media. Selection documents for approximately 230 projects with a total federal budget of over 900 million euros were submitted. The selection of projects and the allocation of funds were decided by the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag.

The selected projects will strengthen the cultural infrastructure of the country and represent a wide spectrum of cultural initiatives, from memorials and exhibition venues to cultural landmarks.
