Kunsthalle Bratislava Director resigns as Culture Ministry Revokes Funding

Kunsthalle Bratislava director Jen Kratochvil resigned from his post on Tuesday.

At the same time the institution announced that the Culture Ministry refused to finance its artistic and educational programme for 2024, which was prepared by Kunsthalle's internal and external curators. The Kunsthalle Bratislava gallery will be taken over by the Slovak National Gallery, the Culture Ministry announced on Wednesday. Reacting to Kunsthalle's announcement about changes in its management, ministry spokesman Pavol Corba said that the cultural institution's director Jen Kratochvil asked Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova to release him from the post as of January 15, as "he wants to devote himself more to curating and teaching activities".
