Venice Biennale Adds Palestinian Organization to Collateral Events

Artists and Allies of Hebron is one of 30 institutions that will present exhibitions alongside the International Exhibition and the national pavilions.

There are 30 projects selected as a Collateral Event by the Curator of the 60th International Art Exhibition, Adriano Pedrosa. The Exhibition, entitled Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere, is organized by La Biennale di Venezia chaired by Roberto Cicutto.

The Collateral Events, promoted by non–profit national and international bodies and institutions, take place in several locations; they offer a wide range of contributions and participations that enrich and enlarge the International Exhibitions of La Biennale di Venezia.

While a proposal from the Palestine Museum US was reportedly rejected, Artists and Allies of Hebron an organisation based in the West Bank and Berlin, has been chosen as one of the Collateral Events. Artists and Allies of Hebron was co-founded by Berlin-based South African photographer Adam Broomberg and Hebron-based Palestinian activist Issa Amro.

They will present an exhibition with the working title Anchor in the Landscape, which refers to photographs of Palestinian olive trees shot by Broomberg and Rafael Gonzalez.
