Important Ceramics by Pablo Picasso on Sotheby's

The next dedicated auction of Important Ceramics by Pablo Picasso will be held in London on 5 April 2016 and features property from the Nina Miller Collection. The sale presents over 200 ceramics with estimates ranging from £1,000 – 1,500 to £80,000 – 120,000.  While the focus of the sale is Picasso’s editioned ceramics, the Nina Miller Collection is highlighted by two unique ceramics Caractère (est. £20,000 – 30,000) and Deux Poissons (est. £25,000 – 35,000).

The various owners session features Picasso’s ambitious editions Tripode (est. £80,000 – 120,000) and Gros Oiseau Picasso (est. £60,000 – 80,000). Beginning with his first trip to Vallauris in the summer of 1946, Picasso remained enchanted by the freedom and expressive nature of the ceramic medium through the last 25 years of his life.  In these works we truly see the artist’s freedom of thought and creative powers, and the sense of playfulness for which he was so renowned.
