National Lottery Heritage Fund Awards £4.9M to Barts Heritage Museum for Its 'Sharing Historic Barts Project'

With their 900th anniversary year, Bart Heritage Museum shares news of a £4.9m award from the National Lottery Heritage Fund towards its 'Sharing Historic Barts Project'.

With their 900th anniversary year, Bart Heritage Museum shares news of a £4.9m award from the National Lottery Heritage Fund towards its 'Sharing Historic Barts Project'. The Hogarth Stair has also been declared one of National Lottery Heritage Fund Heritage Treasures of 2023! With match-funding now in place this £9.5m project is set to start later in 2023.

Along with the urgent repairs to the celebrated Hogarth Stair and Great Hall, the project will introduce a pioneering public programme uniting heritage and health. The programme will include cultural and educational activities as well as therapeutic art making courses responding to the art and architecture of the site, sensory heritage walking tours and mindfulness activities.

Barts Heritage has also reported that when work begins on site this year and there will be opportunities to see the specialist conservation as it takes place, work that will include the cleaning of the vast Hogarth paintings on the Hogarth Stair and restoration of the spectacular Great Hall.
